Welcome Yao to the Legal Tech Buyers Guide: Is this the new lawyer’s own software?

A few decades ago, some enterprising solicitors got together and wrote a legal practice management solution which proved rather popular and ultimately built a large and loyal following across the UK.

This was one of several home-grown solutions that dominated the UK practice management market for many years.

However, today the legal technology landscape has changed, and those legacy suppliers have largely fallen away, either unable to keep pace with technological change or acquired by global players for their user base.

As a result, the legal practice management market has contracted significantly with just a handful of viable suppliers and most of these are large international software companies with thousands of law firms as customers.

While this is not necessarily a bad thing, is there still room for a home grown "by lawyers for lawyers" solution to emerge and be a genuine contender in the practice management space?

It certainly look that way thanks to Yao Technologies, born out of Lewis Denley solicitors in West Sussex who, frustrated at the Practice Management solutions available to them, decided to write their own.

Roll forward just a couple of short years and the results are truly spectacular.

Leveraging the latest tech and a focus on beautifully simple, yet highly effective design, Yao’s transformational software is redefining what’s possible for legal practice management and must be a contender in any PMS selection.
